I recently decided to start a cosplay as Rose. Since her attire is so modern compared to my previous character cosplays, I can wear it in public and get away with it. If I’m having a particularly bad day and get agoraphobic, I put on my pink shirt and blue jacket and suddenly I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything. The best part is no one’s recognized that it’s a cosplay yet. It’s incredible how much happier in life this tactic has made me!
I really hated The Girl in the Fireplace, but I don’t think I would have if it were in a different series. The second series of Doctor Who was all about the Doctor and Rose growing closer together before being ripped apart, and for him to have this random fling in the middle of that with absolutely no consequences seemed out of character and out of place.
RIGHT. Thank you, anon. Thank you.
Amy: Where’s the Dalek?
River: It died.

I realize this is probably going to get a swarm of angry replies, but it just doesn’t feel to me like Eleven and River have the chemistry and relationship we’re told they do. So much about their relationship feels really uncomfortable, and the fact that they’re apparently married feels as contrived as badly characterized fanfiction does to me. I love them both as characters, but I just don’t buy the two of them together.
All the love for this anon’s truth. ALL THE LOVE.
I found this small article in The Big Issue, in an interview with Russell T Davids.
Just imagine
If this had happened.

I think that certain people in this fandom have a bad habit of criticizing female characters way more harshly than male ones, for the exact same things. They have huge double standards, and it’s sad that no one seems to notice or care.
