actually I agree, I think I remember of having a small crush when I was just a little girl. I always had a thing for smart guys and he was young enough for me so… XD
I think it is all right to have liked him. Why not? Now I see the fail in the character design but back then I didn’t even knew about the fandom wank… or the fandom in general.
I am speechless… this is so awesome.
I have never understood the fandom anger about Wesley Crusher. Or, I should say I understand it, but I do not grok it.
I, too, was happy to see someone encouraged for being smart and not mocked or put down. I regularly heard people — adults as well as kids around my age — say I was “too smart for my own good” as if somehow being smart is a liability.
When people bother to explain why they hate Wesley it’s always something about how he was young and that’s annoying in itself (ageism much?) or the him being too smart thing (um, genius is like that, you know), but what I see in all that chin music is this: Wesley did not represent the normal everykid, he was a super smart kid. I wasn’t super smart. I resent him!
In the end, as amazing as Picard is, he’s just a dude. A dude who, through experience and time and education and training got to be the man he was on the bridge. People can see themselves becoming a person like that or striving to be a person like that and the goal seems achievable, even when it really isn’t for some.
When you’re 25 and you look at Wesley Crusher you know for damned sure you’ll never be a genius teenager. That must hurt *eyeroll*
Even people around my age who were within 7 years of Wesley on either side resent him. He’s too much like those smart kids in class who know all the answers. Or he calls to much attention to how smart he is, which, if you went to public school, you learned right the fuck away is a bad idea if you wanted to be socially acceptable.
None of those are good reasons for hating on Wesley. None. Of. Them.
Oh, and while I’m on a roll: the next person who calls Keiko O’Brian a shrew is getting popped in the mouth.

I concur. On both counts.
I remember seeing him on the show for the first time as a kid; it was inspiring seeing adults taking an intelligent...
I grew up on The Next Generation. I’d come home from elementary school and watch it on our old, home-recorded VHS tapes....
Oh I definitely had a crush on him when I was younger, and I have to admit he’s still got some charm. I definitely...
Diox mío, yo también le quería, a pesar de lo niño repollo que era. Todas las tardes viéndole, mari, en la merienda xD
#comingoutofthecloset...loved Wesley. Even before

I liked Wesley too, but I had a thing for boy geniuses, which should have been an early indicator that I would turn out...
