So when Amanda Marcotte says the exact same thing about Rihanna that WOC bloggers have been saying for months, & suddenly it’s a good idea not to judge her? Farreal, that’s when white feminists can hear that being a survivor is more complicated than doing what makes other people feel good? Mmm..okay. I see I need to spend less time giving away content & more time selling it.

I’m posting this on OK4RJ rather than my personal blog because we are feminist/reproductive justice bloggers and we need to be aware of this type of bullshit.

Yeah, this is actually a DIRECT jacking of a woman of color’s ideas sold as original thought by a white feminist blogger of privilege. I listen to Marcotte’s Opinionated podcast weekly. It’s a show she does with Samita Mukhopadhyay from Feministing and this week, they talked about this subject in the opening few minutes of the show. Actually, Mukhopadhyay, a woman of color and feminist blogger, is the one who even brought up the idea of patterns of abuse and cyclical violence - she even asked Marcotte to enlighten her on some statistics (a type of trivial knowledge Marcotte always claims to have coming out of her ears) on this particular aspect of domestic violence, to which she replied “I don’t know.” This is super gross and makes me feel sick. Mukhopadhyay is not mentioned in this piece even as a source of inspiration to look up those statistics she didn’t have a clue about before.
